The lengthy, fumbling fornications (thankfully there’s no incest) might be intimate they might even, from one perspective, have a dry wit. It aims to break the taboo and show sex as it really is: banal.Īt least that’s one conclusion viewers may reach after outlasting this tale of young Romain and his brother, sister, mother, father and grandfather all talking about, and having, sex. “Sexual Chronicles of a French Family” takes that primary objective more seriously. Let’s agree that too many American movies find it hilarious when teenagers, in all sorts of crass ways, rush to lose their virginity.
